Wow... Watching those clips is chilling to the bone... This man has literally mastered the art of containing his self-hating rage and distilling out a calm, certain, and focussed message.
He clearly enjoys how far he has come away from his roots, and the way he uses his newly found 'religion' as almost like a force-field to protect something inside him is fascinating.
The question is not whether, but who is this man trying to get back at, and why?

this is terribly sad. this buy definitely suferrs some emotional problems. as shocked as i am i will be five times as shocked if I found out for sure that this guy comes from a regular frumeh and haimesher family.

I can't believe that the BBC gave these guys airtime.
You know. I wandered into islam chat awhile back to see what their chat rooms were all about. The room was full of american converts. Some jewish born, some christian. All converted through chat rooms. The internet is a scary and powerful device. I think what shocks me (if any of this is even true) is that he got his wife to also go along. I also don;t know if I can believe this guy came from a religious background, even if he was from brooklyn since he said about his family never being close to him and not caring as much. In any case...it makes me very very sad....

ok after doing some of my own research after being totally annoyed by these videos, I've heard that he was an american welfare case that made aliyah and found out the Israeli government doesn't give welfare to everybody. He got mad at the Kahanists for not supporting him so now he's on the PA payroll. From what I understand he sells insence in Yerushalayim.

Then he went to Israel to try the welfare there. Then he got cut off of that. Then he was offered financial incentive to become a muslim, became one, and sells incense in East Jerusalem.
His wife has been reported to be a "mail-order bride" from overseas he brought to the US then dragged everywhere else she's been, it's also been reported that he is extremely abusive to her.
I have been told this by people that knew him personally, there were several on Kahane.org when this story first came out.

I didn't watch the complete videos but theres not one shred of evidence that this is legit. The first Video portrayed him as an ex chasid, the second as an ex-secular jew. They don't show him speaking a word of hebrew or any jewish concepts. It's probably a fraud.

I have heard about him a while ago, and then came across these two videos clips. I am a curious person by nature and became interested in understanding how he got to become this way, given the fact that he was a former chasidisher person, so I sent him an email.
Contrary of what people think, he was not raised chasidish. He was secular till the age of nineteen. At that time he started his journey of finding the purpose in life. It took him on a long and turbulence ride that got him to where he is now.

It wasn't probably that Yousef would answer my questions. I knew that from the start, and this type of behavior has always fascinated me.
People like Yousef (and make no mistake they exist across the entire spectrum of views and ideas) can almost never continue a dialog about their positions without being able to control the context. They can start the process, but once they feel that they are being 'pinned down' about something that they don't want to talk about, they either have to wait and prepare before responding, or (like the very capable ones), redirect people to pre-prepared materials that can re-instate control over the context.
So, for Yousef, he has redirected his rage into his writings, forums, and websites. I totally understand that. In those contexts he is in control. Because he is extremely bright and well spoken, he 'succeeds' in drawing attention to himself and his 'cause'.
However, make no mistake about it, all of his energy is spent dressing up a very simple cry for attention: "Something caused me to become very, very angry at other Jews and to hate them. I am going to turn my life completely on it's head and turn into everything jews hate. I will use my considerable intellect to control the message and make it one of 'finding the truth' (which is always very popular!), and as I spend my years this way, I will use my 'revenge' to sooth my broken heart."
There is alot more that can be said to give us perspective about folks like Yousef, and how to innoculate others against his rage but doing so would actually help him to be more effective, and I can't do that.
I agree he has a lot or anger and rage i think that’s rather clear from watching the clip and now reading his remarks.
from a psychological view, when somebody keeps on running away from different sects or religions i.e. from lubavitch to satmer to a litfisher kolel to israel, he is ultimately running away from “authority”.
i believe that in this case his problem was because he could not express his anger and hostility when he was under an authority.
even if he were to rebel against the authority he would still be left with terrible guilt.
that's why Islam is such a great fit for him (god forbid, i don’t actually mean it is for “his” good but i mean good for his “problem”), he is allowed and even encouraged to express all his anger.
if you are looking for a religion where revealing your anger is encouraged, it's Islam. in islam the more anger the better and holier you are, in islam anger may even make you a martyr.
for in islam "murdering" is a good thing! And murder is a great way to leave out anger.

It is Yousef who is commenting. If you click on his name it will take you to his blog. And yes he was not raised frum. Yousef does not hide that fact. And you are right (I was making that point as well) being raised nonfrum puts his journey in a different perspective.
Joe Cohen had no business moving over ther in the first place, as the west bank has enough problems without the addition of more madmen. That said, I hope Al Khattab never ever comes back to Brooklyn.
And I pity his poor children. Hopefully they will grow up and reject him and his sick version of reality, just has he has rejected his family and country.
I knew him personally, Circa 1990-1992 not sure about the dates. His familiar voice, face, demeanor are all unmistakable. He used to work in Green's restaurant and was my teacher in Krasna Cheder.
He was a BT but davka chose Williamsburg and always the extreme views. We used to have discussions and I (being the SFB, Satmar From Birth)was always labeled by him as a Tziyoini. He showed his violent streak as a teacher. Though able to control himself most of the time he showed his true colors when he lost his temper. He would inflict the most outrageous and extreme pain with sadistic pleasure and right away regain his composure and smooth talk.
I always used to argue with him that he knows darn well that he will never integrate in Willi. No one will be meshadech with him, why not choose a more moderate lifstyle. Later on, someone told me he saw him in Flatbush with his beard shaved and a bent-down hat etc.
When I first saw a video about his conversion I was not able to sleep a couple of nights, literally. I couldn't believe that I actually used to have face-to-face conversations with this virulent Jew-hating vermin. But when I think logically I see that it fits his roller-coaster life perfectly. His violent nature and extremism have found an outlet for his utterly confused and misdirected rage with those "peace-loving" muslims. Still it is so disgusting to watch him spew such anti-semitism from his filthy mouth. Truly sick.
My prediction: He will suicide-bomb himself to get 72 grapes. Insha-Allah, no Yidden should be harmed.
